The new Spitsbergen-calendar 2019 will take you through the arctic seasons! The year begins with a herd of reindeer and a view of the vast ice caps of Nordaustland from an unusual perspective, before we meet two polar bears in March and avoid colliding with a weathered iceberg in a stormy sea in April.
The first flowers are coming out in May and soon migrating birds are coming back after their long journey to occupy their nests in the high arctic. We enjoy a rare close-up view of a Red-throated diver with the check enjoying the summer sun on the back of his mother (or father?). Now, the arctic summer is coming with full force and colourful variety, the tundra is full with flowers and the animals enjoy the warmth of the sun – a young polar fox is curiously exploring his arctic world. In August, the characteristic silhouette of Nelsonøya, far north in Svalbard, is reflected perfectly on the mirror-like surface of the sea. A Black guilllemot has caught a fish, getting ready for the arctic winter, which is coming in October with bizarre frost-patterned ground in the polar desert of Nordaustland. Walrus spend the winter in high latitudes in the Arctic, while we enjoy the last month of the year in Adventfjord close to Longyearbyen.
The calendar Spitsbergen 2019 is available in two sizes: the bounteous A3 and the more handy A5.
There is, of course, a new calender every year!
