A beautiful taste of Spitsbergen on the wall throughout the year, month after month! In 2022, our traditional Spitsbergen calendar again is a double calendar: you get twelve pages of Spitsbergen's wildlife and landscapes PLUS twelve pages with macro photograhies of Spitsbergen's flowers on the other side. We are simply using the back side of the sheets which, until 2019, have been blank! So you can turn the calendar around whenever if you feel like it, thus switching from an Arctic impression to another :-)
Note concerning the large (A3) version of the calendar Spitsbergen 2022 - does NOT concern the small version (A5)
Unforunately the remaining copies of the large (A3) version show some minor damage. Most will consider it irrelevant or may actually not see it at all, but it is there. It is a narrow line of tiny marks stretching from left to right across pretty much all images. The last 5 product photos on this page illustrate this. There are all taken from one and the same page/spot. As these photos will illustrate, the marks are only visible upon very close inspection and when the light comes from a certain angle. After involving several test persons, we considered this practically irrelevant for normal use and hence we decided to keep the also the large version of the calendar Spitsbergen 2022 for sale at a reduced price. As previsously mentioned, this concerns only the large (A3) version and not the small (A5) one.
The new Spitsbergen double calendar 2022 will take you through the polar seasons.
The year starts with an icy impression of Spitsbergen's east coast, and after an encounter with a Bearded seal in February, we find ourselves in the beautiful scenery of Woodfjord. In April, we find Common eider ducks on their nest and in May, we meet a Blue fox - a rare colouration of the polar fox. Arctic flowers start their busy but short season in June, and in July, reindeer find a lot of food on the tundra. August is prime time to go hiking, and with some luck, you may find fossils such as this ammonite from the Jurassic. September brings a rare encounter with a Long-tailed skua and October yet another wildlife sighting: this time it is a polar bear family - indeed a stunning experience! In November, we visit a small, remote island in Liefdefjord with driftwood and beautifully curved coastline. Finally, a view of the mighty glacier Nordenskiöldbreen from an unusual perspective rounds the year off.
The back sides of all sheets are dedicated to Spitsbergen's flora. Using the relatively new focus stacking technique, I have made some unique images in recent years that show the beautiful flowers on a level of detail that often goes beyond what you can see with the naked eye!
In contrast to other calendars available on the market, we make a completely new calendar every year.
The double calendar Spitsbergen 2022 – Impressions by Rolf Stange is available in two sizes: the larger A3 format and smaller in A5.
