Key ring mine 7
Key ring "mine 7"
A key ring? Yes, but not just any key ring! This key ring is a genuine piece of Spitsbergen: the material comes from mine 7, Spitsbergen's last Norwegian coal mine, which will close at the end of June 2025. Before the closure, the Alt i 3 carpentry workshop in Longyearbyen (yes, that's where the driftwood picture frames and kitchen boards come from) secured both wood and coal from the mine and combined the two to create a stylish key ring: the polar bear embedded in the wood is made of real mine 7 coal!
Similar to the image shown, but not exactly identical. Due to the semi-natural materials used – especially the wood – and the handcrafted production process, each of these key rings is unique, so they all look slightly different in detail.
